THINGS YOU MAY HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT
If we missed something, don’t hesitate to ask! Please call 732-674-4718
We do accept walk-ins but reservations are strongly suggested as weekends and holidays tend to fill up fast.
For reservations, please call 732-674-4718
Included in your boat rental price is PFD’s (personal flotation device) for all occupants, paddles, and transportation from our parking area to the put-in and from the take-out.
IF WE CAN’T MAKE IT
If you do need to cancel a reservation, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance for a full refund of your deposit. All trips are reserved by you with the understanding we operate RAIN OR SHINE. Keep an eye on weather reports.
When making a reservation, we require a 20% deposit on 4 or more boats. Please refer to our cancellation policy above.
All participants are required to complete our liability waiver. You can save time by downloading it from our website and completing it before you arrive. If possible, we also encourage a “trip leader” that would handle the paperwork and payment for larger groups, so that we have a single point of contact. It makes it easier for you (and us!) on the day of the trip.

SAFETY IS NO ACCIDENT
BE SMART – BE PREPARED
All participants MUST wear their PFD any time they are on a boat and we strongly suggest they be kept on when in or around any body of water. Your safety is paramount. Though some areas are very shallow, deeper pockets do exist.
Note: Water current and depth varies depending on the season, amount of rainfall and the area in which you are in. Creek bends, deadfall, strainers and other challenges will be present. If you have any questions, please ask a member of our staff.
Pay attention to your pre-trip safety briefing.
Knowing how to empty the water and right your boat will provide you with needed confidence if you find yourself in that situation. Be prepared.
HERE WE PROVIDE SOME SUGGESTIONS TO MAKE YOUR DAY ON THE WATER AND IN OUR ENVIRONMENT MORE ENJOYABLE:
You should wear:
Comfortable clothing, relevant to the expected weather and temperature. This may consist of quick-drying shorts, pants, shirts (long sleeved or tee), bathing suits, water sandals or shoes.
Check the weather – if it looks like rain, rain gear would be a good idea. We do sell dry bags for storage of your extra gear. Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
Other items you may want to bring:
Food and drink. (the smaller the cooler, the more room for you) It’s always nice to have a creekside picnic. We do provide mesh garbage containers for any garbage. PACK IN, PACK OUT. No glass!
Please, please, please help us to keep our waterways safe and clean.
(And if you really want to help us, ask about our scheduled river cleanups)
Sunscreen (especially for the wee ones!) –available on site at the Trading Post.
Insect repellant–available on site at the Trading Post.
Phone and/or camera and a safe, waterproof container to carry them. Note: Though we are not responsible for ANY of your personal gear, most people like to have their phone or camera with them. Waterproof containers for small electronics are available on-site at the Trading Post.
Towels- larger dry bags are available on-site at the Trading Post.
Change of clothes/shoes (if paddling in the colder months)
Note: If you wear prescription glasses or have sunglasses on, we suggest using a safety cord to help keep them on you… available on site at the Trading Post.
Reminder: You will be traveling through beautiful Double Trouble State Park. DTSP is a patrolled area.
While in the park please respect all NJ State Park rules and regulations, including NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES.

USE AND TRANSPORTATION PERSONAL BOATS
We do provide transportation for your personal canoes and/or kayaks. Inquire within.
Your vehicle will be parked at our location. Anything you don’t plan to bring with you on the water should be left in your vehicle, not in the shuttle bus/van or at the Trading Post.
WHAT TO DO “IF”…
Please be prepared to get wet. Items should be stored and/or fastened in your boat so that if you need to navigate above, below or around an obstacle, OR CAPSIZE, your gear will stay put.
This may not always be the case, but the less “loose” stuff you have, the easier it will be to recover from an unexpected event. BE PREPARED. Should your vessel not remain upright and you find yourself taking a dip in our beloved creek, your priorities are as follows:
Safety of all – get yourself and your boat occupants to a safe place. You may be in shallow water and able to stand up. If not, be sure everyone gets to shore.
Gear retrieval- anything loose may sink. Gather what you can. If it floats, you (or someone in another boat) may be able to grab it down the river. Try to hold on to, or at least keep an eye on, your paddles.
Boat recovery- your last concern. Once you are safe, you will need to get your boat to shore and remove the water.
Reminder: Gear, belongings, hats, sunglasses, coolers…. CAN ALL BE REPLACED.
YOUR SAFETY IS PRIORITY #1… BE PREPARED!
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE TO PARTICIPATE?
We suggest all children be five years of age and older.
